The reading week is coming soon and i have just started my revision since i only finished my crazy designing game module yesterday. :(

As i go through the readings, i realised it brought new insights into concepts, or maybe i have just overlooked it while reading the first time. For instance, when i went through week 4's readings, there are points i think i have missed out such as the arrows but i've also realised how important LDs can be in understanding the appropriate tools to use for the learning journey. At first, these readings were rather "dry" and boring but after finishing the webquest, i seem to find true meaning in the readings.. haha.
okay. so far the above is what i think for now bout my revision. Short, i know but will try to revise fast and update whatever new insights i've found!!! haha.

ARGH~~ didnt know i should regularly update the blog..as i don't go online very often i rarely update anything as well. Urgh. Should really make it a point to do so. *mental note* >.<

on a teenie side note: i hate this designing module i'm taking 'cos it took up like majority of my time this sem =( ALL COS OF AN UNHELPFUL and MIA group mate. Urgh.

Anyway~~ getting back on track, so here goes:

Webquest:
Basically i was rather lost as to what should be included in the webquest till i started reading up on the examples on online. In the process of doing the webquest, i realised that there are many things to consider, for instance, who is our audience and how should we appeal to them and how to make it easier for them to understand (since we are targeting secondary school kids). It didnt really occur to me that what we have been learning in lecture applied to the webquest. As Alfred have mentioned, all the LDs and needs assessment are in fact steps that can help us build and base our design on. It was really rather fulfilling to see how the webquest have turned out and by doing a webquest, it really helped in embedding some of the concepts i've learnt in the lecture in my head. =)

Presentation Day:
I was really super nervous since we were unsure if we were really on the right track BUT with the reassuring looks from Alfred, Elmie and some encouraging as well as helpful classmates, it helped calmed my nerves A LOT. haha. Luckily, it was not as bad as i thought except for my shifty eyes and stutter at times. >.<
Basically, our problem lies in partly the aesthetics and we also need some reorganization here and there, but generally it does seem fine~~ =)
OH!! OH!!! AND When i saw the other presenting group's webquest, i was really taken aback!!! It's all so well done up!!! *jealous* haha.

So far, i guess the lessons have really been enjoyable with sweets and chocolates!!! haha. The lessons especially tutorials have always been very cheery, engaging and most importantly helpful cos it clarified many concepts that i was unclear about (given lectures are in early mornings when my attention span is rather short). haha. Though the workload may have been rather heavy at the start, but eventually it was still fine.. =) phew! heh.

With regards to Assignment 3,

we've chosen to discuss bout the cabbie case study:

we find that there is a contradiction between the road regulations and the customer service policies. Taxi companies usually ask for good service from their taxi drivers yet at the same time, require them to observe the road regulations. This forms a contradiction in their instructional design. for example, taxi drivers with empty cabs not picking up passengers or do not stop at a desired place requested by the passenger might receive complaints. However, it may also be due to the taxi drivers who are unaware of the "innovations" that is changes to road regulations. Hence, we've assessed that our learning objective in this case is to strike a balance between road safety and customer service, reinforce good driving habits and keeping taxi drivers updated of changes. The models employed in this case are thus, the problem solving model and the innovation model.

p.s. this is just a brief idea of what we've done... =)

Been a crazy week and have been lacking updates in the blog... >.<

Anyway here's a short sum up for week 4's reading..

From the reading, i've learnt that the essential elements in a learning design includes learner agreement, the acknowledgement of the learning context, the learner challenge as well as the provision of practice.

After my tutorial and looking at other group's learning designs (with some maths and making nasi lemak learning designs that was discussed in class, i must admit i was pretty impressed by the maths one! >.<), i realise people have differing opinions on wad are the steps in a learning design. For example, in making a cake, i would have thought that searching for a recipe comes first, whereas others may feel that buying ingredients is the first step (as sometimes the ingredients have receipes printed at the back of the packaging).

Also, from the reading: there are various learning designs. Generally there are four of them. They are rule-based, incident-based, strategy-based and role-based learning designs.

These designs can help to plan learning experiences according to different learners and can be used in combinations at times to cater to different learners so as to achieve the desired outcome. I don't know if i'm right in this but with respect to the local education system, i personally feel that it have move through the various learning designs across time. The past education system tends to be incident and role based whereas the present one seem to be rather strategy-based instead. Just my two cents worth on wk 4's reading.. >.<
